Hi, I'm Rachel.
Teen learning coach helping students build skills for school and life.
Over more than a decade in schools, I taught across the middle years and secondary space and stepped into leadership roles supporting student learning, wellbeing, and school transitions. I’ve worked closely with diverse learners — including students who are bright and motivated, and students who struggle with organisation, attention, anxiety, confidence, or follow-through.

What that taught me is simple.
Same age.
Same grade.
Completely different needs.
So instead of pushing one-size-fits-all study advice, I build the skill set underneath performance — the stuff schools often don’t have time to teach explicitly.

Executive functioning (organisation, planning, starting tasks, time management)

Evidence-informed study strategies (memory, revision structure, exam prep)

Systems and routines that reduce stress at home

Helping students become more independent learners (with parents as allies, not enforcers)
Because most students don’t need “more effort”. They need a better system.
That’s what we build together — so your child can feel capable, calm, and in control of school again.
Why I care so much about teen learning
I wasn’t the kid who found school easy. I was the kid who worked hard — and learned early that effort matters, but strategy matters more.
I became a teacher because I’ve always loved watching people grow. Over the years I taught and led across the middle years and secondary space, supporting students with a wide range of learning needs and strengths.
And here’s the thing I couldn’t ignore:
We ask teens to juggle a complex workload, deadlines, distractions, and pressure — but we rarely teach them the practical skills that make that doable.
So I built Honey Learning around the missing piece:
teaching teens how to learn.

What I bring to the table
A teacher’s lens: I understand schools, curriculum pressure, and what students are up against.
A learning designer’s lens: I build systems and strategies that are clear, practical, and repeatable.
A coach’s lens: we work on confidence, consistency, and follow-through — not just “what to do”, but how to actually do it.
What you can expect from working with me
A calm, structured approach that helps your child:

get organised

study smarter (not longer)

build habits that last beyond this term

feel more confident and capable as a learner

Teen-Brain Strategy
Cognitive science meets teen life
Why teens thrive
working with me
If your teen is capable but inconsistent, this is the missing piece: strategy + structure. We build the habits and systems that make school feel manageable again.

Teen-Brain Aligned
Strategies match how adolescent brains develop, not how adults wish they worked.

Skill-Building Focus
We build planning, organisation, study, and follow-through — not just “do more work”.

Not Tutoring
Your teen learns how to learn, so improvements carry across every subject.

Framework Driven
THRIVE and SPARK turn big goals into simple weekly actions your teen can repeat.

Calm Structure
Your teen gets clear steps without pressure, shame, or constant nagging at home.

Systems Over Willpower
We design routines that work on tired days, busy weeks, and low-motivation moments.

Home-School Bridge
I translate what school demands into practical systems your teen can actually use.

Personalised Coaching
Same age doesn’t mean same needs — support is tailored to your teen’s strengths and gaps.

Parent-Friendly Support
You’ll get simple language and expectations so you can support without becoming the “homework police”.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about working with me
No — we focus on planning, organisation, study strategies, and follow-through so your teen can apply the skills across every subject.
Tweens and teens who are capable but inconsistent, overwhelmed, procrastinating, anxious about school, or unsure how to study effectively — especially during the transition into high school or senior years.
I can’t promise specific grades, because that depends on many factors — but I can promise a structured, evidence-informed approach and practical systems your teen can use.
Each session is practical and tailored: a quick check-in, a clear focus skill (e.g., planning, task initiation, study method), and a simple plan your teen can use immediately between sessions.
Yes — many of the skills we build support ADHD/autistic learners and other diverse profiles. If your teen has specific needs, we’ll tailor strategies to their strengths and what works for their brain.
I don’t liaise directly with schools, but I can help you and your teen navigate the process — including what to ask, how to interpret feedback, and how to turn school expectations into a practical plan.
Coaching is primarily online, with limited in-person availability from the Picton studio (subject to scheduling and term demand).
I work with secondary students (tweens through teens). If you’re unsure whether it’s the right fit, send me an email and we
Sometimes we’ll use real school tasks to practise skills, but the goal isn’t to “do the work for them” — it’s to teach them the process so they can do it independently.
