Term 1 Coaching for

High School Students

Your teen doesn’t need “more tutoring”.
They need a system — plus the habits, confidence, and brain-based strategies to actually use it.

Weekly 1:1 or small-group coaching

Starting Term 1

If you’re anything like most parents I work with, you’re watching your teen think (and say) things like:

  • “I know what to do… I just can’t start.”

  • “I’ll do it later.” (And later becomes Sunday night.)

  • “I forgot.” “I lost it.” “I didn’t see it on the portal.”

  • Overwhelm when assessments land — followed by shutdown, tears, or avoidance

  • Phone distraction + procrastination that turns into panic

  • You’ve tried tutoring… and it didn’t stick.

You’re not failing. Your teen isn’t lazy.
They’re missing repeatable systems and the skills to manage the load of high school.

Honey Learning is learning coaching — not subject tutoring.

Tutoring often focuses on what to learn in one subject.

Coaching focuses on how your teen learns, and builds skills that transfer across every subject:

Executive functioning (organisation, planning, follow-through)

Brain-based study strategies (memory, retrieval, spaced practice)

Communication + school navigation (teacher emails, asking for help, managing expectations)

Confidence + mindset (especially after setbacks)

This is the work that makes everything else easier.

What your teen will be able to do by the end of Term 1

This isn’t about a magic overnight transformation. It’s about building a foundation that holds.

By the end of Term 1, many students can:

  • Plan their week and follow it (without the Sunday-night spiral)

  • Break tasks down and start without drama

  • Use a planner + assessment map that actually gets used

  • Study smarter using evidence-based methods (not rereading and hoping)

  • Reduce overwhelm by using routines and “default systems”

  • Advocate for themselves and communicate clearly with teachers

  • Use AI ethically to support learning, planning and feedback (not do the work)

How it works

Each 45-minute session is structured — but personalised to what’s happening in your teen’s world.

A typical session includes:

  1. Check-in (what’s working / what’s heavy this week)

  2. Review (portal, upcoming tasks, assessment timeline, current priorities)

  3. Strategy teaching (one skill at a time, based on best practice + your teen’s needs)

  4. Implementation (we set it up together: plan, system, template, routine)

  5. Accountability plan (what’s the next small step before we meet again)

  1. It’s strengths-based. It’s practical. And it’s designed to build independence, not dependence.

What's included?

  • Weekly 45-minute coaching (1:1 or small group)

  • Templates + planners (simple and repeatable)

  • Email access for light-touch support between sessions

  • Optional voice-note check-ins (for accountability support)

  • Parent summary after each session

  • Parent can join the last 10 minutes of each session (if helpful)

  • Two parent check-ins per term (mid-term + end-of-term)

Not sure if it’s the right fit yet? Start small.

Starter Package: $150 for 3 sessions
Perfect for:

  • A reset after a rough finish to last year

  • Setting up systems early in Term 1

  • Testing if coaching is the right style of support for your teen

(From there, families usually continue weekly to build consistency.)

Who this is for (and who it’s not)

This is for you if:

  • Your teen is capable but inconsistent

  • Organisation and follow-through are the missing pieces

  • You want skills that transfer across subjects (not “help with one worksheet”)

  • You want confidence + communication + habits, not pressure and perfection

This is NOT the right fit if:

  • You’re looking for subject-specific tutoring only

  • You want a fast-track promise of A grades

  • You want someone to “do the work” for your teen

I’m focused on growth first — because results follow the systems.

If the end of 2025 felt messy, you’re not alone.

Let’s start 2026 with systems that actually hold — and help your teen build confidence as they go.

Your teen doesn’t need more tutoring — they need a system that actually sticks.
